American Bar Association Annual Spring Conference

Updated: Mar 3, 2021

The American Bar Association will hold its annual conference this coming Spring, which includes their Section of Dispute Resolution, from April 14 - 17, 2021, in Los Angeles and online. Due to the many challenges and changes we have witnessed over 2020, this should be a most interesting conference - including the online aspect of it, since COVID-19 regulations may impact the plan for holding at least some of the conference in-person.

From their website:

"The 2021 Section of Dispute Resolution Annual Spring Conference will continue our tradition of excellent and innovative educational programs along with social and networking events.

The 2021 conference will be a hybrid model with in-person programs and events in Los Angeles, CA as well as robust virtual options. All in-person events will follow local and CDC public health guidelines and regulations.

The theme of the 2021 Spring Conference is Agility, Disruption and Reinvention: ADR in a New World. Our world faced many extreme challenges in 2020, including a deadly global pandemic requiring seismic shifts in our personal and professional lives.

We have witnessed, recorded and publicized incidents of police killing black people and heightened awareness and denial of racial bias and injustice. We also have witnessed non-violent and violent confrontations, all in a highly contentious political environment.

The 2021 conference will examine how these and other recent events have disrupted the field of dispute resolution, how the field has adapted, and what additional reinvention may be necessary or beneficial."
